Dosing and protocols
This page is a laboratory protocol for handling a research reagent. For research use only (in vitro / RUO). It is not medical advice; the material is not intended for use in humans or animals. "Protocol" here means a laboratory workflow — preparation, concentration math, sterile technique, labeling and storage of a reagent.
The short version — what and how. Reconstitution means dissolving the dry reagent in bacteriostatic water and then working out the resulting concentration. What and how: the concentration math +
The whole calculation comes down to one formula:
concentration (mg/mL) = reagent mass (mg) ÷ solvent volume (mL)
More water in the same vial → lower concentration. To go back the other way, always work through the concentration: volume = mass ÷ concentration. Remember: milligrams ≠ millilitres ≠ syringe graduations — U-100 graduations (1 mL = 100 units) only mean anything once the concentration is known.

Label the reconstituted vial
Right after reconstitution, mark the concentration (mg/mL) on the vial in pen — that is the one thing worth writing down: without it the concentration is easy to mix up when several vials of different dilutions are in play. The compound itself is already printed on the manufacturer's label — copy it across too if you like.
Storage conditions are, again, in the public reconstitution guide: refrigerate at 2–8 °C, don't freeze, use within a few weeks.
